Preferred the acoustic set
"It was a true privilege to finally see Diamond Rio live in his prime, one of the world's finest guitar players, and a talented singer and songwriter.
The acoustic instrumentation just sounded phenomenal in Constitution Hall during the first set, with mandolin, banjo, hand percussion, and more. Diamond Rio didn't hog the spotlight and gave plenty of space to his extraordinarily talented bandmates to show their chops. The set was the absolute highlight for me as they played Diamond Rio's most memorable tunes.
The electric set, however, didn't quite live up to the high standard set by the first set. I could have done with a few less extended guitar/instrumental solos and a few more actual songs. It almost seemed like the band was short on material and needed filler. The audience grew visibly impatient towards the end, making it a bit self-indulgent after a while.
Despite this, the show was definitely worth seeing. You are unlikely to find a finer group of musicians on a stage together. Diamond Rio has truly become a well-rounded singer/songwriter, and I suspect that his music will only continue to improve."
